Responsibilities:- Respond to user requests and incidents. - Perform routine installation and upgrades of batch submission and grid and cloud Middleware. - Develop scripts to automate routine administration activities. - Perform pro-active monitoring of the health of the overall services. - Respond to alarms when the services are not performing as expected. - Participate in maintenance, testing, and extension of automated installation - and configuration systems. - Meet with users to analyze problems with grid and cloud job submission - Identify, deploy, and maintain on-demand services hosted in the cloud. Bachelor-level scientific degree in physics,
computer
science, or related field with 4 years of experience. Excellent analytical skills with regard to distributed computing systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment of scientists and computing professionals. Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise technical documentation with corresponding excellent oral communication skills. Proficiency in two or more Scripting languages including bash, Perl, Python, Ruby, JavaScript. Experience with supporting applications and users in the Linux (UNIX) operating system. Experience with automated system configuration/deployment tools such as Puppet, CHEF, Cobbler, Rocks, or other automated tools. Experience with one or more large batch system deployments (HTCondor, PBS/Torque, Grid Engine). Experience with open-source web-based applications for monitoring, metrics, and graphics. Experience with service delivery in an ITIL framework. Experience with building open-source software and deploying Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-service cloud computing (Amazon EC2, OpenStack, OpenNebula).
